IRN-BRU |
|
Glasgow and the surrounding area. There's no
question about it: Irn Bru is one-of-a-kind. Its orange colour reminds
the consumer of orange soda, but not exactly; it also possesses a sort
of deep, zesty hue that recalls shades of rust, or wine. The initial
smell is clean and cool, and vaguely reminiscent of tangerines |

Lucozade |
Lucozade Energy is an energy drink
containing glucose syrup and
caffeine. First manufactured in
England in 1927 as Glucozade, the
name changed to Lucozade in 1929. It
was initially marketed as an aid to
convalescence. For many children
Lucozade was seen as a special treat
to offset the discomfort and
distress of illness. For others it
was less welcome than the illness.
It was sold in glass bottles with a
yellow cellophane wrapper. The brand
is still marketed this way in
Africa, claiming to aid recovery
from numerous conditions as diverse
as measles and colds. It tastes
slighly different to the British
version.
In the 1980s Lucozade was re-branded
as an energy drink, and the original
packaging was changed to
polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
bottling.

Fanta |
Fanta,
sometimes referred to as
Bamboocha, is a soft drink brand
produced and distributed by the
Coca-Cola Bottling Co.. It was
originally made from by products of
cheese and cider production, since
Coca-Cola was not able to be sold in
Nazi Germany due to shipping
problems after the British and
French declarations of war in late
1939. The Coca-Cola Bottling Co.
(Germany) produced Fanta Orange in
order to keep profits in the country
during the war. After World War II,
Fanta was introduced to America by
Coca-Cola, and in 1960 they bought
the trademark. Fanta Orange is the
most popular Fanta flavour, available
in 180 countries. In terms of
volume, Brazil is the largest
consumer of Fanta in the world..

Schweppes |
|
The first soft drink can be traced as far back as
the late 1700s. Jacob Schweppe is credited with
perfecting his process for manufacturing the world's
first carbonated beverage, mineral water. A jeweler
by trade, his interest in science led him to the
novel art of infusing water with carbon dioxide. As
he experimented, he gave away the bubbly water.
Eventually, Schweppe began charging a small fee for
the water and thus J. Schweppe & Company was born.
